Christantus Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
