Helicopter Spirals Wildly into Palm Groves at Frequented California Shoreline

A chopper soaring near a well-attended California coastline unexpectedly began spiraling uncontrollably, eventually dropping height and crashing into a cluster of palm trees as beachgoers watched.

Footage uploaded on social media depict the chopper commencing to spiral above the shoreline then descending near the perimeter of the coast, where it ends up lodged between palms and a set of stairs close to the shoreline route.

First Aid Update

Local firefighters said five people were taken to hospital including two individuals who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on Saturday.

Three persons on the road were hurt. Information on their condition were not immediately available.

The reason for the accident was not immediately released.

Authorities mentioned the aircraft was linked to an yearly “Cars N Copters” fundraising event planned for the following day.
