The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from Australia's three-match ODI series against India, as high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a shock selection.
Labuschagne has been omitted from the ODI team following managing only a single run in his two batting efforts during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a best innings of forty-seven in his previous ten ODI innings.
The batsman has played 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now focus on earning a Test recall ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.
Recent performances suggest of a resurgence with a score of 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw made a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his white-ball international debut in the upcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
The left-hander has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also aiming for a Test return as Australia search for a fix to their batting top-order problems.

Australia have selected a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the Ashes on the horizon, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-match series due to a wrist problem sustained in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will lead both the ODI and T20 teams after scoring a hundred in the final game against New Zealand to seal a two-nil victory last week.
“We have named a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be player management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the cricket season through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an crucial phase in the preparation for the World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India begins on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20s from October 29.
