New England equaled their best victory streak from the Tom Brady period as they overcame division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the team in 2019

Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts

The win bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses

The visitors had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the New York's opening drive

But the Patriots fought back in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21-7

"That was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He wants to be excellent."

Justin Fields found Metchie late in the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the win
