Prince William will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America next month, as announced by the royal household.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a reception preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
Father and son were present at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the British authorities.
The King has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the COP summit.
Official representatives have portrayed William's involvement at the next COP as assuming an important role in "climate diplomacy".
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were greeted participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This involvement involved presentations together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
The COP30 summit will coincide with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the climate conference on the sixth of November.
In recent days the royal figure referred to the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".
The King has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the survival risks facing us over planetary heating, climate change and species extinction," the sovereign addressed participants.
